Cynthia couldn’t just have lunch, she was incessant. You will fall in love with Earl, meet him!
Conveniently, Cynthia’s car had a flat; Hailey had to swing by the office. Didn’t her sister know about AAA?! Two steps in the door was Earl’s desk. They chatted and somehow she found herself taking his number.
Hailey needed to finish refurbishing the kitchen. Her boys were with their father, coming home late. But, all she wanted was some coffee and company. Before realizing, she phoned Earl. They sat across from each other at the pancake house; breakfast turned into lunch, almost dinner.
A peculiar feeling came over her while driving and it wasn’t the pancakes. Entering her garage, she took a deep breath to settle herself. The phone ringing caught her off guard. Hello? Yes… I really enjoyed it also. The third? I’ll call you back. Great, bye now.
The plan, dine out… but Josh came down with the flu. Hailey tried to cancel. Earl wouldn’t relent, you have to eat. Two hours later, using a cabinet as a dinner table, a savory fare was had. Albeit in an unfinished, unlit kitchen, except for the glow from two little red votives.
Three bottles of wine along with the most sumptuous Thai dumplings ever tasted, sated their desire for food. Inhibitions abandoned with three bottles of wine, Earl abruptly got up, stood at Hailey’s side and gazed into her eyes. He asked, have you ever just had to do something? Before answering she became a part of a moment that would live on in infamy. Warm lips, soft and flavored with wine, melted into a kiss.
Halley and Earl raised a glass to pancakes, meddlesome sisters, three bottles of wine and their 10th anniversary.
